SUMMARY OF ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Safety Manager is accountable for all activities in regard to implementation of all safety and health programs for the company’s operation. The incumbent reports to the Manager of Human Resources, with limited supervision, implements safety programs to prevent occupational injury and illnesses, comply with corporate policies and initiatives, and ensure compliance with Cal-OSHA standards and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for development of all safety and health programs for the company’s operations. The incumbent will be responsible to translate all safety and health programs from compliance to effective training materials for all levels of staff, from the executive group, plant hourly employees, outside contractors, and visitors. The incumbent manages the contracted occupational health nurse(s) provided by Medcor and works with our local medical providers to manage our return to work program. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and /or Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of 4 years’ experience, food manufacturing experience a plus. Language Skills: Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with all personnel ranging from the executive group to plant hourly employees. Ability to influence, negotiate and lead. Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Computer Skills: Good command of Word, Excel, Power Point, Lotus Notes, etc. Reasoning Ability: Capable of obtaining, organizing and analyzing information to draw conclusions, resolve problems, ability to multi-task while maintaining efficiency. Must have strong logical reasoning ability and able to work within given time frames and legal constraints. Must have excellent follow through.
