Next Door Foundation

Doing the most important work in Milwaukee!

Every child deserves a strong start to life no matter the circumstances they are born into. At Next Door, our team works hard to ensure under-resourced children in Milwaukee get a strong start to life through high quality, personalized early childhood education.

Next Door serves nearly 1,400 children a year from birth to five years old through two center-based sites, a home visitation program and 11 partnership sites in Milwaukee County.

Next Door has served the Milwaukee community for over 50 years. Over the years, the organization has evolved into one that is focused on early childhood education and family support. We serve almost 1400 children and families each year in a number of home visiting and center based programs that support a child’s healthy growth and development. We also offer a Books for Kids program. Teaching and working in other professions at Next Door offers many advantages including:

  • Low student/teacher ratio
  • Coaching support
  • Professional Development Opportunities
  • Therapy services on site for children
  • Mental Health consultation services
  • Extensive community partnerships
  • Employee access to a Success Coach

Our employees also play a big role in shaping the future of Next Door.  Driven by our strategic plan.  Milwaukee Business Journal honored Next Door as one of its 2020 “Best Places to Work.” This program honors companies and organizations based on high rankings from employee surveys. Next Door earned its recognition in the Extra-Large Category (200 or more employees) and was the only non-profit organization in the group.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also honored Next Door as one of its 2021 “Top Places to Work”.
