Job Description

Prepare or “scrub” chart prior to patient appointment and note any overdue items such as preventative screening exams or immunizations.
Schedules and cancels same-day patient appointments using NextGen EPM
Requests medical records from other facilities when required.
Documents patient care appropriately in the electronic medical record.
Obtains prior authorizations for necessary exams as per required by patient’s health plan.
Triages patients over the phone. Instructs patients in home care or makes appropriate appointment, and documents in the EMR.
Responds to patient portal messaging in a timely manner and document in EMR.
Refill medications via EMR using approved medication refill protocol.
Assesses patient when in exam room by documenting current complaint.
Administers medications, vaccinations and injections as directed by a physician, noting the dose, manufacturer, lot number, and expiration date in patient record.
Carries out prescribed procedures, including catheterizations, IVs, suture removal, specimen collection, Una boot application, ear irrigations, and wound care and dressings as directed by the physician.
Applies orthopedic devices such as slings and splints of various types, ace bandages, dressing, etc.
Assists physicians in medical procedures and treatments, including pelvic and PAP smears, minor surgical procedures and biopsies, KOH and wet mount specimen collections, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and exercise treadmills.
Attends and participates in department meeting s and committees.
Checks crash carts, defibrillators, and oxygen tanks according to monthly rotations. Stocks any medications or oxygen used immediately.
Assists in the training and orientation of new employees.

2) Current CPR certification
