Job Description

Industrial Smoke and Mirrors (ISM) is a manufacturer of various training simulators including aircraft, weapons, maritime, and ground vehicle simulators, as well as related hardware components. Most of the simulators we build are for our troops, but we do also perform work for the commercial industry.  We have an impeccable reputation in the industry and are currently in need of Simulator Assembly Technicians.  Many of our jobs are prototypes, so there will be constant changes, challenges, and specific requirements on a project-by-project basis.

Simulator Assembly Technicians are responsible for final assembly of all products, operating production equipment, and field modifications of simulators.  Simulator Assembly Technicians must be able to read, understand, and follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics to ensure proper final assembly and installations.

Duties for Simulator Assembly Technicians will include:

  • Working collectively with team members in all departments for proper assembly and integration of simulator components
  • Collaborating with all other departments for project planning and scheduling timelines to ensure schedules and deadlines are met
  • Utilizing handheld tools including but not limited to drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, rivet guns, band saws, routers, belt sanders, and pneumatic hand tools
  • Reading work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine appropriate assembly methods
  • Integrating and assembling smaller subassemblies, electrical hardware, and plumbing hardware as required
  • Visually inspecting parts for proper placement
  • Performing assembly operations such as trimming, filing, drilling, riveting, reforming and fitting of parts and details
  • Assisting with or creating templates and other shop aids to facilitate assembly and installation
  • Confirming correct materials and quantities are used, and reporting any discrepancies
  • Reviewing quality of work to ensure the product meets ISM quality standards
  • Identifying product defects and completing appropriate documentation when necessary
  • Prioritizing work flow through effective communication with management
  • Performing all work in accordance with ISM quality standards and safety procedures
  • Traveling will be required this position for field installations, upgrades, and modifications; travel may be anywhere from 10%-40% of the time, depending on project requirements
  • Other duties as required

 

Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above job duties.  Experience with flight training devices is a plus. 

 

Position Requirements for Electronics Technicians include: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong attention to detail
  • 6+ years of experience in general practices and procedures fabricate, assemble, and integrate parts
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales
  • Must be able to communicate well with other departments both verbally and in writing in order to build/test designs and resolve issues in real time
  • Able to perform basic math with whole numbers as well as fractions and decimals
  • Able to make angular measurements
  • Experience in aerospace, as a former journeyman, or as a master sheet metal mechanic are preferred
  • Certified Forklift Operator is preferred
  • Due to the nature of our work, eligible candidates must have the ability to pass background investigations to gain clearance to military bases and also may be required to pass further background investigations for US Security Clearances
  • Lawful US Person as defined in US Code 8 U.S.C. 1342b(a)(3)
