Omni Ecosystems seeks a Director of Products & Construction to join our team on a full-time basis. The position is newly created, and plays a key role in Omni’s mission. Omni has not previously had a staff member whose focus is oversight of the Omni Products & Construction. Through ingenuity, hard work, and robust collaboration, Omni has successfully delivered high-quality products and services. Director of Products & Construction Description

Omni seeks an individual with the experience, skills, and passion to oversee material forecasting & logistics, construction planning & operations, safety, and team management. This position will also have limited project management duties for the next 18-24 months, and will participate in the strategic leadership group within the firm. The Director oversees the team that carries out Omni’s product and construction projects, which include growing media, on-grade and on-structure irrigation systems, drainage for on-structure and on-grade ecosystems, plantings, pavers, metal edging, green facade and living wall systems and associated anchoring systems, and more. A successful Director is a self-starter and problem-solver, attentive to details, a clear and proactive communicator, and experienced in logistics, construction, and staff management. The Director is a central and critical member of Omni Construction team, and works from the Omni office in Chicago with occasional travel to project sites in Chicago and nationwide.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 or more years progressively-responsible experience in construction material supply & logistics and/or construction project management
  • Excellent prioritizing, time management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in software including AutoCAD, time tracking, CRM, Adobe Acrobat, BlueBeam Revu, Google Suite, and Microsoft Suite
  • Enthusiastic commitment to multidisciplinary and team-focused environment
  • Preference given to candidates with OSHA 10-Hour Construction, OSHA 30-Hour Construction, or similar safety certification
  • Positive attitude and good sense of humor


  • Oversee successful planning and fulfillment of products and construction projects for the Omni Products and Omni Construction disciplines
  • Carry out material forecasting & logistics for the Omni Products and Omni Construction disciplines
  • Manage staff within the Omni Products and Omni Construction disciplines, including Project Managers, Superintendents, Warehouse & Yard Manager, and Crew
  • Oversee and ensure safety at Omni and Omni project sites
  • Review, approve, and prepare submittals, shop drawings, as-built drawings, MSDS, LEED, SSSPs, warranties, close-out documents, pay applications, change orders, and other project management documents
  • Draft, review, approve, update, and carry out-tasks listed on projects’ fully executed contracts and any change orders
  • Draft, review, approve, monitor, and update project management documents and tools
  • Review and understand contract obligations, and communicate contract obligations to Omni project team members
  • Achieve discipline and project budget objectives
  • Coordinate with Omni Controller and client financial contact to ensure all accounting documentation is accurate and timely submitted
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients to ensure successful fulfillment of projects
  • Oversee coordination of project schedules and logistics internally and externally
  • Oversee safe installation of Omni products and quality control for Omni’s projects
  • Create AutoCAD drawings, such as shop drawings, construction details, in-house Omni construction documents, and as-built drawings
  • Adhere to Omni AutoCAD standards
  • Understand technical aspects of basic building components including roofing, plumbing, electrical and structural principles and details related to Omni products and projects, and communicate those with client and design/construction team to ensure proper Omni installation
  • Calculate and design irrigation systems
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, specification sets, and shop drawings
  • Monitor project progress and conditions by visiting Omni project sites before and during installation
  • Prioritize safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in all decision making
  • Generate, review and approve project schedules, safety plans, hoisting, and logistics plans
  • Review, approve, source and issue purchase orders for all materials
  • Manage project complications with calm, measured and professional conduct
  • Source, negotiate, and generate work orders for Omni partner installers and subcontractors nationwide
  • Train staff as needed
  • Complete other tasks as needed to successfully complete projects on time, on budget, and according to Omni’s quality standards
