Job Description

Scope of Position:

Works in conjunction with Warehouse leadership to direct employees and actively participates in processing the full complement of Corning Pharmaceutical Glass warehouse activities in Vineland, NJ. With input from internal customers: Commercial, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering, assists in the planned execution of both the inbound and outbound movement of glass products and defines storage schemes for newly manufactured finished goods utilizing Corning and non-Corning service providers, including freight forwarders, brokers, and shipping companies. In general, organizes the capacity of the Vineland NJ warehouse to effectively use the resources available to fulfill the shipping and receiving transactions by priority each business day.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Electronically verifies the staged deliveries of outbound finished goods and compares to the delivery paperwork
  • Directs hourly staff activities with respect to storage schemes, outbound deliveries, and inbound receipts
  • Confirms production for previous 24 hours for all finished goods, all sources
  • Generates paperwork for outbound shipments
  • Manages onsite movement of trailers with spotter driver as the day progresses
  • Processes packaging receipts and cycle counts packaging at Vineland facility
  • Authorizes material acquisitions by obtaining and sharing supplier/manufacturing capacity knowledge, industry knowledge and transportation market cost considerations
  • Accountability for raw material and finished goods inventory goals driven by strategic stocking decisions based on contracts, business strategy or material availability
  • Support/lead product transfer and coordination with both the transferring and receiving plants (agents)
  • Drive continuous improvement utilizing lean and six sigma supply chain tools (including: value-stream mapping, iDMAICs, and 5S principles)
  • Support Warehouse operations to ensure timely receipt of materials at the designated recipient location to support operations and delivery objectives
  • Manages plant procurement and transportation, supplier management logistics operations and processes. Research areas for ongoing improvement. Deploy solutions to optimize costs, cycle times, and capacity constraints
  • Seek to understand part outages, cycle counts performance etc. for ongoing improvement
  • Ensure plant meets targeted objectives for all delivery metrics including on-time performance, order cycle time and order dating.
  • Observes all safety rules and OSHA regulations and performs job in a safe manner.
  • Update and develop standard operating procedures (SOP, WI, Forms, Flowcharts, etc.) to assist with consistency and reduce errors.
  • Learn Storeroom functions to provide backfill as necessary for absences:
  • Enters Central Stores transactions via SAP.
  • Coordinates receiving of UPS, FedEx, Airborne, DHL and other deliveries. Verifies identification and quantity of materials received with purchase order requirements. Verifies condition of materials received. Enters receiving information into SAP.
  • Handles packaging material requisitions.
  • Maintains pallet control – Inventory and receipts.
  • Enters service receipts into SAP.
  • Responsible for the availability and condition of machine parts and expediting all spare and replacement parts.
  • Coordinates parts fabrication with the Machine Shop.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:
  • Basic work hours are 40hrs/week; 7am-4:30pm
  • Periodic Weekend Team Coverage to support operations/production needs

Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years’ experience or Associates Degree in manufacturing supply chain management, business, engineering, or accounting.

Required Skills:

  • MS Office usage (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • SAP usage & familiarity.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic business and manufacturing environment.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience leading teams.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to deal with non-native English speakers.
