Job Description

The position is responsible to ensure packages are shipped on time and in accordance to sales order instructions so customers will receive products in the same condition that products were sent. Also responsible for receiving activities. Works under general supervision. Although the location of the position is in Morganville, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

 

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for picking and packing all orders in a timely and efficient manner according to the printed sales order while at times utilizing hand-held scanning device.
  • Receives purchase orders and ships sales orders using Axapta.
  • Knowledge of all shipping reports. Knowledge of International Shipping preferred including Customs and AES filing.
  • Knowledge of all distributor shipping requirements
  • Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Assists in loading trucks, van or helping courier services in locating packages to ensure their correct destination.
  • Verifies number of pieces being received and stocks inventory to proper location.
  • Track, organize and perform cycle counts on all inventory.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area at all times.

 

Physical Activities:

Work may be very active, could stand for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. Exerts and/or lifts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally.

 

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 1 year experience, however 2 -3 years of warehouse experience and/or inventory control experience is a plus.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards.
  • Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing priorities
