Job Description

The position performs custodial work in offices, warehouses, industrial areas and other building interiors and is responsible for all basic cleaning. The location of the position is in Newton, NJ and may require daily travel between buildings.


Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for cleaning floors and rooms as well as restrooms, breakrooms, and all common areas. This includes restocking dispensers, emptying trash/replacing liners, cleaning and sanitizing fixtures, cleaning mirrors, doors and walls, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping tile floors, and cleaning toilets and urinals.
  • Sets up, stocks, and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Monitors and maintains sanitation and organization of assigned areas.
  • Assists other departments when needed to ensure optimum service to guests
  • Performs additional duties as needed.


Physical Activities:

Walks, sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves continually during working hours. Is subject to lifting up to 50 pounds.




  • Prior experience working for a cleaning service preferred



  • High school diploma or equivalent working experience.


Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Skilled in vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and applying finishes on different flooring materials and stairs
  • Able to clean all fixtures and furniture safely
  • Profound capability of maintaining janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner
  • Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning equipment and chemicals
  • Adept at using chemicals in a safe manner
