Latent Print Processing Analyst (GS-11/12) - SkillBridge Internship Opportunity

IMPORTANT NOTE: This opportunity is only open to CSP & DoD SkillBridge participants on active duty who are at least 13 months from separation.

LOCATION: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Joint California Forensic Center (JCFC) - San Ysidro, CA

SALARY: DoD SkillBridge interns are paid by DoD while they intern as volunteers with CBP. The salary range below reflects the pay scale if hired at the end of the SkillBridge internship. There is no guarantee of employment, however, if CBP hiring managers are able to hire interns at internship conclusion, the salary range is: $62,107-96,770 (GS-11 Step 1 to GS-12 Step 10).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In these positions, you will be a valuable member of a team of forensic professionals. Your job will include:

·       Assist current Border Patrol Agents with crime scene response and evidence collection and handling.

·       Assist current Border Patrol Latent Print Analysts with inventory of evidence and supplies, latent print processing and photography.

·       Assist with laboratory records management program.

·       Develop research projects to advance latent print processing techniques on trouble surfaces and prepare research articles for possible publication.

·       Assist branch chief with policy review.

·       Attend regional forensic and latent print study groups to network and assist with multi-agency events.

REQUIRED BASIC SKILLSET: Latent print processing analysts have opportunities in laboratory settings including, but not limited to crime scene management, evidence handling and collection, inventory, latent print processing, photography, and report writing.

A Latent Print Processing Analyst assists in providing fast and reliable forensic services relative to the assigned department. These duties may fall under the following programs: budget, purchasing, facilities, quality control, property, policies, health and safety, security, data bases, SharePoint, and training.
