Primary Purpose: A Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for uptime and functionality of all plant machinery and the building in our Boston industrial laundry facility; be very detail-oriented and capable of prioritizing and multitasking; be a team member willing to work and interact constructively with our Production Team; maintain a safe and secure work environment; and help train new team members when needed. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Complete tasks assigned by the Maintenance Director. Be alert and proactive to potential problems and hazards in the plant. Take appropriate actions to assure safety and OSHA compliance is maintained. Participate in performance improvement process efforts. Assure licenses and certifications are kept up to date. Any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Director or Plant Manager. Understand the importance of Preventative Maintenance activities and incorporate the philosophy into daily duties. Skills & Knowledge: Must be able to comprehend and use knowledge of plant processes, machine design, and function. Self-motivated and detail-oriented. Knowledge and experience with the following is desirable: plumbing, pumps, valves waste water systems, boilers, (these would be a plus) electrical systems, electronics, PLC’s hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors building maintenance familiarity with preventative maintenance programs General computer skills with ability to learn and efficiently use our systems. Problem Solving: This position requires good problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Must be able to prioritize maintenance steps and actions. Education/Experience: High-school degree or the equivalent in work experience in the maintenance field. Work well as part of a maintenance team. Demonstrated and proven experience in addressing immediate maintenance issues coupled with high personal work standards. Work effectively without constant supervision. Work Environment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations: The work environment Seasonally hot and humid, wet in some areas and can be noisy. Exposure to steam-heated equipment. Physical demands Being on feet for long periods, stooping, crouching, climbing, lifting, or moving heavy materials. Safety considerations Must adhere to safety policies and procedures at all times.
